Isn't It Ironic...

The people that you're closest to.
They can be quite strange, can't they?

Here's one way...

The Text
So Susan was trying to get me to go out tonight. I've told her about my desire to get performing this year. She knows that I sing and play guitar.

Well, it turns out that there's this karaoke club she likes and she invited me to go out tonight. I initially said yes, but I was feeling rather tired, so I decided that the best course of action for me was to apologize, politely back out, and ask for a rain check for next week. I did and she accepted it very gracefully.

At this point, she confessed that she really wanted to hear me play and sing. She also went on to say that "she would even be in my fan club."

I thought to myself:
This is really interesting...
Why?

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Well, one of the things that I've noticed about Sally is that she never asks me to play or sing for her. In fact, when I talk about music, she generally (pardon the unintentional pun) tunes out.

Yet, someone that I barely know wants to hear and see me perform. So, I found an old video that I took of me, doing a gig when I first started performing again and I sent it to her.  She responded quickly and told me that "she loved it" and complimented me on my singing voice.

This is all in a matter of minutes.

For me, the contrast between these two people is significant and right now is rather hard to come to grips with...

<sigh>
