How did this come to be, you ask?! Simple.
I set up an account on OKCupid this week and started actively cultivating new opportunities!
Let's have a look at how I got here, shall we?
Sally has been on OKCupid (mostly called, OKC, I guess... what do I know? I'm new here :-) ) for a while now.
Given it seems to have worked well for her, I said to myself -- why the fuck not?! What do I have to lose??
Just like they say about the lottery:
You can't win, if you don't play!Given recent events, it seemed to me that I'd better get my ass in the game for my own sanity.
She initiated it by giving my profile a "Like," so I followed up with a message, after reviewing her profile.
In fact, she was the *very first Like*!
It was a bit of a slow start chatting with Susan, as I'm sure it is for most women on OKC.
I'd imagine that the number of creepy guys is pretty high :-P
Despite that, it didn't take long before she suggested that we meet for drinks.
Last night was our date and we both had a wonderful time!
We'd met at a cozy spot that I'd never been to before.
She was already seated there when I walked in.
While I'd seen her photographs on OKC, I wasn't prepared for the in person visit, because she is absolutely beautiful!
She also has a great sense of humor, is a great conversationalist, and is very open.
All of these things are important to me. Really, they're way more important than looks, but I am not complaining about how lovely she is :-D
We ordered our drinks and talked at our table for several hours.
We talked about everything. Where we grew up, past relationships, likes, dislikes, work, family.
You name it, it was open for discussion! Great fun for me.
We started to get a little self-conscious about overstaying our welcome at the restaurant, yet we didn't want to end the evening just yet.
So we decided that we'd take a walk and continue the conversation.
What I thought would be likely just a few hours turned into four!
I so enjoyed our time together, I didn't want it to end.
I wanted to stay out all night with her, but the reality of having to take care of pets at home was starting to weigh on my mind
As we headed back towards her car, we talked about next things we could do in the next week.
At the end of the night, she paid me one of the highest compliments I could ever hope to get. She said:
"You are fascinating" (emphasis mine)We exchanged hugs, thanked each other for the time together and went our separate ways.
I messaged her when I got home and thanked her for a wonderful evening.
I heard back from her this morning and we exchanged contact information.
I've got a good feeling about her. -- I like her a lot!
Even if my OKC experience ends up with me not meeting anyone else, this single experience has made it all worthwhile!
Whether or not this leads to anything sexual isn't the point, though I'd love for that to happen.
She's someone that I instantly felt good and comfortable around and that's huge!
